Jaguar Mark 2 history

The Mark 2 was Jaguar's most successful 1960's car, particularly in 3.4 litre and 3.8 litre form, where the combination of sheer performance, character and value for money was unbeatable. Sir William Lyons ,Jaguar's founder, designed the car and it used the very quick 3.4 XK engine. One interesting feature- the rear bumper displays a circular emblem which warned drivers that this car had disc brakes - and was likely to stop rather more quickly than they might be able to! An outstandingly beautiful car immortalised by Inspector Morse in the TV series and revered by all who have driven one. Our car was registered in 1961, assembled in Brown's Lane and exported complete to South Africa and then on to Rhodesia before returning to this country almost 40 years later. Remarkably it has had only 3 owners in this time and we are certain that you too will fall under the spell of the compact Jaguar!

Slip behind the wheel of this classic sports saloon and you are instantly transported back 40 years. The first thing you notice is the opulence of the interior and then you fire up the straight six with its push button start and you are in another world. On the road it is remarkably responsive and agile for such a big car. Jaguars had always been drivers cars and the Mark 2 was no exception. Many people have argued that the 3.4 litre engine was always the sweetest of the XK types.

If you want to add a touch of elegance to your wedding then add this to your list of options. It is perfect for the job presented as it is in Old English White with contrasting oxblood red interior. We offer the car chauffeur driven to get the bride to the church. Please enquire about rates and availability. But this car is so much more than a wedding car; with its bootspace and comfortable interior it is also an ideal touring car. Find time to explore the surrounding Wiltshire countryside or beyond into Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire or the South Coast resorts.
